Agfest success
Hospitality students from St Patrick’s College in Launceston have been praised for their professionalism following two days of work experience at the rural extravaganza, Agfest, in May.
Some 49 hospitality vocational education students from Years 10 to 12 took part in what has become an annual program for the college.
St Patrick’s acting principal, Dr Julienne Colman, said that the students undertook a range of hospitality tasks at 35 different sites at the agricultural festival at Carrick in northern Tasmania.
“I was fortunate enough to join the students and saw first-hand how amazing these students were in the work place,” Dr Colman said.
“I would like to thank all students for being so professional.
“I was so proud, as I went around the venues, when each site manager said how wonderful the students had been.”
The head of vocational education and training at St Patrick’s College, Maria Bassett, co-ordinated the student placements.
Dr Colman also thanked college staff members for ensuring that workplace standards and expectations were met, Ms Bassett for her co-ordination, and the businesses who provided work for the students.
